Brinson’s Home run lifts Cowgirls past Taylor County

Tamela Brinson’s towering shot over the fence with two runners on base was the deciding factor in Perry last night. The game went into extra innings and Brinson’s 9th inning shot was just what Madison County needed. The game was tied 7-7 at the end of seven innings. In the top of the ninth the game was decided. The final score was Madison County 10, Taylor County 7. Brinson finished the game with four RBIs, one run scored and the game-winning three – run homer. She was 2 for 4 at the plate. Morgan Smith was 1 for 4 and scored one run. Tiffany Richardson was 1 for 4, one double and crossed home plate twice.
Rachael Webb picked up the win for the Cowgirls. She didn’t walk a batter, struck out six, gave up 14 hits including 6 doubles.
Coach Sonja Bass and the Cowgirls’ next game will be at home Thursday, March 17 when they take on Lafayette County. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m.
