Obituary – Pauline Cone Crosby

Pauline Cone was b. 21 Oct 1925 at Vero Beach Fla. and d. 06 June, 2012 at Columbus, Ga. she was preceeded in death by her parents were William H. “Dock” Cone and Alice Hudson Cone of Greenville, Fla. They lived in Vero Beach, Fla. and later moved to Ft. Pierce, Fla. and lived there until 1936 at which time they moved back to Madison Co., Fla. and farmed at Sirmans. Later they bought a farm at Sun Down Court and lived there until their death. Pauline was the 2nd of 8 children. Their first born died at age 13. The 7 remaining children all attended and graduated from Greenville High School. After she graduated in 1943, she accepted a position with The Southern Bell Telephone Company in Jacksonville, Fla. where she met her future husband, Herbert Eugene “Bing”Crosby. They were married there 03 Jul 1947. He was a career US Army man and after they were married, they lived in numerous places, wherever the Army sent them. He retired at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He died there and is buried in the Federal Cemetery, at Fort Benning, GA. Pauline will be laid to rest beside him.
They were the parents of two children: Linda Diane Crosby Gass of Kingston, Tennessee
Paulette Crosby Bragg of Columbus, Ga.
Four grandchildren: Brian Gass, Andrea Gass, Emily Ferguson, and Shannon Ferguson.
One sister, Leola Mae Cone Sands of Greenville,Fla.
two brothers, Herbert Cone of Gainesville, Fla.
James Cone of Warner Robins, Ga.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, June 10, 2012 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Andy Merritt officiating. Interment will be held 10:00 AM Monday, June 11, 2012 at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
