As convenient to both of us, I am willing to talk with anyone, meet with anyone, and answer any questions anyojne has. There is no “hidden” agenda. Every elected official serves at the pleasure of the electorate. The only elected officials in Florida subject to recall elections are city councilmen / city commissioners.
I will be glad to buy coffee for whomever wishes to talk about any issue. Call me at 673-8201 or email at Catronj@aol.com.
Dang,
No wonder folks don’t trust their government. Can’t seem to find out where it is happening, what it is, or if they gonna need any employees. Anyone got any rumors on what is going on? We don’t even know, “When is the 10 acre tract located?” Now, That’s a phrase worth taking some time alone with.
“There’s plenty of hope, an infinite amount of hope, but not for us.” –Franz Kafka
Okay, I know where that is. I just did not want them to decide to re-zone my neighborhood which is, at present, wholly residential, and garble it up in legal “code.”
When is the 10 acre tract located? The ordinance concerns the highway property which was a Fitness Center.
The city commission is committed to assisting existing businesses and to encouraging new businesses. The reason for going into business must be to make money. Significant factors which should be considered include the cost of doing business (capital expenses, operating expenses, etc.) and the probability of being successful. These should be included in a business plan. A significant issue to many people (most?) who “think” they want to go into business is where to find the money. For most small businesses the answer is from yourself—-there are few loans for those who want to start a business. Investment is riskest for start ups.
“The Pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity. The Optimist sees opportunity in every difficulty.”
Winston Churchill
C-r is intended for intensive, highly automotive-oriented uses that require a conspicious and accessible location convention to streets carrying large volumes of traffic. This district permits certain uses no9t of a neighborhood or general commercial type and serves the entire City. Permitted principal uses and structures include those allowed in CG (commercial general) and in addition: retail commercial outlets…, service establishments….
The City of Madison Land Development Regulations were adopted in June 2, 1992 by Ordinance No. 92-5 and have been amended. The Regulations are available at City Hall.
Public participation is encouraged. Two boards advise the city commission: the Planning and Zoning Board and the Code Enforcement Board. Anyone interested in being considered for appointment to serve should talk to their city commissoner, the mayor/commissioner, the city clerk, or the city manager. Democracy works best when people participate.
Ya’ll be good now!
Mr. Catron,
I am so sorry. Please forgive. Do not want you to violate the statutes. Thought you might be able to shed some light on what might be happening on a 10 acre tract in Madison. To some of the residents this sounds like maybe job potential! We need jobs. Please just tell us. Is there jobs potential in this proposal? Can you just tell us that?

Can’t get a call call back from from city commish Democrats for you. Sorry for comments lately on the smart phones. Technology uhhhh
Can’t agree more rube cretin why is this a riddle or to get more people involved I have asked around as business people owner not one expenation.
The language published is specific as required by Florida statute.
The request was made to the Planning and Zoning Board, approved by the Planning and Zoning Board, and came to the city commission at a special meeting on June 26 for the first hearing.
The second hearing will be at the regular city commission meeting on July 10. If the ordinance is approved after a public hearing/reading of the ordinance, the property owner will be allowed establish any business which is permitted in the C-4 district.
I will be glad to talk to anyone who would like know more. Please note that the difference between the current zoning (Office Residential) and the requested zoning (Highway C-4) is the issue. All information about the request is available upon request from city hall.
After the special meetijng I gave a copy of the information about the request to an interested citizen.
This is interesting. Someone wants to do something with their property. The city announces the change desired but publishes the notice in the form of a riddle.
Ever wonder why the citizens are confused? Why is ” Joe wants to build a house of “ill repute” on 5 acres south of town near the old saw mill” sort of info not permitted?
Master Catron, Please tell us in 100 words or less. What is going to happen on this piece of property? It must be something important or you folks would not be advertising it. Perhaps they are going to be burying toxic waste on the site? We have seen that before. Maybe the site for a new hospital? That seems popular these days. No wonder folks have no trust in their government.
Mencken said, “No one in this world so far as I know — and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people.”
2nd reading will be at the July 10th meeting. Commission voted 5-0 to adopt on 1st reading.
If the ordinance is adopted, a business will open because the zoning change will allow the business to be in a C-4 district; current zoning would not allow the business to open in the OR district.
Call me after 10 a.m. I will pick up my packet which has specific information about the proposed ordinance 2012-4. There must be a minimum of two public reading of a proposed ordinance prior to adopting an ordinance. Those in favor as well as those opposed to adopting an ordinance may address the commission during the public hearing.
The ordinance, if approved by the city commission at a second reading which will include opportunity for individuals to speak for adoption as well as against adoption, will change the zoning from Office/Residential OR to Commercial, High-way district, C-4. This change would be less restrictive on the type of business in the district than would be the case with the current Office/Residential zoning. The change might be seen as pro-business.
I have been in California visiting my son and daughter in law. L.N., call me after 10:30 and I will be glad to talk with you. My cell phone number is 673-8201. The phone will be turned off from about 11:45 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
