Go Mary Alice!!!!
Hey you nit picking ninnies, get over yourselves.
This is where I wish pot was legalized among other things. As long as they are harming no one but themselves, I could care less.
Alls well that ends well. Lessons learned. Robert is now an honors student, recommitted to the Lord, and active in school events. A great leader for other youth. Isn’t it great that we all get second chances!! As, to others picking on Robert and Mae – I would’nt pick on someone who mistakenly wrote “there”, instead of “their”, obviously while writing an emotional piece, or bash Mae – she’s a great girl. The police did their job, however hard it was on everyone.
Robert….Just say no!
I would like to know what college you are attending Robert. My son will be heading to one in a few short years and I want to be sure it is not the same one you are receiving your education from. “There” and “their”, please look up the definitions and the proper use of them. Also the letter “I”, when used as a pronoun, should be capitalized. One more thing, sentences begin with a capital letter.
Oh yea tadaaaaaaa….
To Madison cast the first stone. Aim not at robert or madison voice.
If you are a full time college student the sysem has failed you somewhere.
@Robert:
If you were not, in fact, charged as stipulated in the MPD press release, maybe they just thought the press release would be a more “news worthy” if they added to it a bit.
“News worthy”, in the eyes of someone at the MPD, is the determining factor in deciding if a press release is generated.
That policy leaves a lot of room for abuse, doesn’t it?
Robert – You stated that you are a full-time college student then you are smart enough to know that I posted a per-written press release from the MPD, didn’t editorialize or involve “my feelings” and why I won’t be printing any apologies or retractions.
i know more about this case then anyone because i was the one involved in it. i have no criminal record, i am a hard worker, a God fearing man and a full-time college student. I understand that despite how crazy our laws are, or my personal beliefs, the possession of marijuana is illegal in this state, however there is a required (and professional) way to go about investigating, questioning, and arresting people who break our “pot laws” and this situation was in no way handled in such a manner. so to the cops involved i will only say this. the job done that night was sloppy and unprofessional and as your boss (yes that’s right!! we the tax payers provide there wages.) i would suggest some sort of disciplinary action because i know that i am not the first to be mistreated by “thugs with badges” and it is ludicrous that the mistreatment of residents by the police dept. is common knowledge to everyone in this town, someone needs to take a stand and demand that the law enforcement, which every community wants and NEEDS, should do there job professionally and be held accountable for there actions weather they be good or bad.
Now To the “voice” i say this. get your facts straight and i suggest you do a retraction of several points in this article. first i was never and have never been convicted, arrested, charged or booked for cultivation or paraphernalia. this is a complete fabrication and it just goes to show the character of the people that say they are here to bring us justice (in the mpd’s case) or truth (in the voice’s case.) so i demand an apology and a retraction in the next paper stating your personal feelings on the errors you made in your publication and how they might impact someones life. your defamation of my character will not be forgotten or overlooked until you take the appropriate steps to mend it. this was without doubt the worst journalism and editing of a newspaper i have ever seen. secondly the altercation was verbal, not physical and the people who were at the scene and saw what happened know this to be truth. all your speculation and jumping to conclusions does is make people feel sorry for you because of your need to make a profit and sell just one more paper with a catchy headline. nobody on this earth is above a verbal altercation, so the light in which you portray myself, my loving girlfriend, and our relationship is absurd, ignorant, and incorrect. In a way i am glad it happened like this so that the habitual abuse of privilege by people in positions of power will be shown to all, and i am glad people will know the TRUTH. because THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE!
-Robert
Are you kidding ? Smell ?! That could be from anywhere. So whats next,warrantless ramsacking of every dwelling in a 2 mile radius ? ……. Don’t you feel much safer now?
Im one of the most open people in madison county about my pot use…
if you want real talk, where they screwed up was the physical altercation..
Negativity brings Negativity.
should have just listened to the new frank ocean album and smoked a beeeeewwwwwllll, everything would be fine.
That there comment by Rube Cretin seems right on target! Smoked lots of dope and drank lots of elixir. Smoking is much preferred to drinking.
Got to look at what is really going on. If you ain’t connected, you ain’t got a chance. The most important lesson you can learn is how to “hide”. That is how your ancestors got by for tens of thousands of years. Learn how to Hide!
oops! Looks like we got real folks commenting here. Seems the host will print anything offered by the system. Too bad, but he has to make a living. We understand. Wonder though, if the sheriff sent out a message that all Jews should be rounded up and put on the train to the death camps in the morning, what would we …………?
So many out here who know what is going on. Almost everyone has smoked Mary Jane. Some have been caught, others have smoked, and continue to smoke, and gone on with their lives. Those who got caught have paid a great price Those who didn’t just keep on carrying on. So, about the only thing that can be said about this situation is that there are those who been caught and those who haven’t been caught.. Is that where we are as a society? Those who have been caught, and those who have not?
“What must I do to win salvation?” Dimitri asks Starov in “The Brothers Karamazov,” to which Starov answers: “Above all else, never lie to yourself.”
It ain’t so bad breh,
I caught a case for possession with intent to distribute because some schwag butt hippie woman set me up. The hefer bought drugs from the whole crew and all that. About 20 of my boys got arrested. I got caught so I took the 5 and was trying to keep everyone else out of it…You know. They let me out on a $500,000 bond until the formal sentencing and I said frig it and went on Dead/Allmans tour and then moved out to the NorthWest. They dragged me back to the scene of the crime eventually and stuck me in prison for a couple years. But I’m not mad, like I said, I got caught. If you fool around you gotta’ be prepared. We were banking about 30k a month so it was ‘calculated risk’….
This is absolutely absurd!! None of the plants pictured are anywhere close to being ready for use and a lot of the babies will be useless as they will die or be male . There is no way this is a professional job and now these two young adult will be marked for life as felons. I guess we don’t want them to vote or be able to arm themselves anyway. Marihuana is not the devil but MPD might be.
Yeah, yeah it is illegal (not for any good reason) and we grew up taught to obey god or laws no matter what, no matter how unjust they were. No one in Madison ever seems questions the validity of the law or of the church. It is sad that Madison still exists in this day and age with alcohol prohibition and a narrow views still holding strong . The priorities in Madison are out of whack and pot heads tend to be easier targets than dangerous criminals.
I just hope marihuana becomes legal everywhere within my life time as I have seen it physically and emotionally help many people while also legally ruining way to many. Just glad I don’t live in Madison anymore, it really is like a third world police state
Yes I post EVERY press release I get from the MCSO and the MPD. Why wouldn’t I? Just like my arrest videos, I don’t care who is in them. I post them.
Where are the “racist police” chanting people now? Seems to me like I saw many crying racism in the drug round up article.
John,
Let me get this straight. Are you saying that you post EVERY press release that is issued by MPD or MCSO. I am very confident that this is not the case.
Are they both naked in their pictures lol?
I dated robert for 4 years. I can see he has downgraded immensely since our breakup. Really really sad
Besides there are many drug smokers that if they were shot in the lung smoke would come out of the bullet hole in their chest. There are likely more serious drug offenses in the city of
I don’t what deputy you are talking about but if a news outlet wants to run a story on a law enforcements crime they can easily get their hands on the information they need through many channels, one being a public record request.
The sign by the table full of evidence conveniently says “domestic violence”. Kind of looks like that is why the Four Freedoms PD was called in the first place.
jimbo r. — not bad mouthing mpd or sheriff dept. news worthy is news worthy unless you play social politics if it was a law enforcement’s child there would be a discression right. where was the press released on the deputy a few months ago. i would come to the mpd office but to busy trying to make money.
@ Eddie and JJ :
The police dept. only does a press release on what is news worthy. We do not complete a press release based on race , creed or who the person is or related to. All drug related arrest, felony crimes arrest and violent felony crimes arrest will get a press release. Some misdemeanor crimes and traffic crashes will get a press release if requested by a news outlet. If you guys have any questions , come by the police dept. and I’ll be glad to explain it further.
Eddie run your perp walk opinion by WCTV as well.

@eddie
Press releases are probably done on a “unusual case” basis. There are people arrested every day for misdemeanor marijuana, Domestic violence, shoplifting, and driving with suspended license that you never hear about unless you check the jail report. Unless the norm is escalated by unusual circumstances (i.e. The subject fled and was chased and caught, the subject fought, or the subject was wanted for a more serious crime) There is no press release done on those cause they are common. When is the last time you heard of an indoor grow inside the city limits? It has been years since I have heard of one so to the Police Department this would be uncommon and yes “press release worthy”. I don’t think our police pick and choose press releases by who is involved as much as they pick and choose by the nature of the crime, which I think is evident by who is involved in this. I understand your point on it being just a plant and maybe an unfair law but it is still a felony to grow in Florida so as long as it it such the police will do press releases on grow houses.
@John:
Like I said, you are probably right. I guess that the real question is the one brought up by JJ:
“Who decides when a press release for an arrest is generated and what are the guidelines for selection?” In other words, who decides when to publicly embarrass someone and, are there guidelines or do they get to pick and choose? I strongly suspect that they just pick and choose.
In my opinion, this one was unnecessary.
By posting the entire press release, I am giving you the news the way it was given to me. If I chop it up, that would be editorial.
@John:
Yes, that is what I was asking for; a little discretion.
I like you, I understand your position, and you may be correct. (I find that I am wrong quiet frequently.) This is primarily an academic question but, if you print only the press releases as they are presented to you without using your own discretion on whether they deserve publication in full or in part, do you not position yourself to become, quite simply, a tool?
I prefer discretion when nobody is harmed or endangered. Otherwise, it’s just gossip.
Awwwie, bless their heart eddie. Get real. Glad they r behind bars and their pictures are up for everyone to see. Just what we need more bleeding heart liberals worried about criminals being embarrassed. Oh wait sorry they are innocent until proven guilty sorry for calling them criminals eddie. Hope that did not offend you using that word since they have not been tried yet.
Not the voices fault. Mpd arrested others that week they pick and choose who they want to embarrass. Just look at the jail report. I think the majority are not judging those two kids.
So what you’re asking me to do is pick and choose who I post on here? You want me to analyze the crime they commit to determine if they qualify for the “Voice Perp Walk”? No. This is a press release from the MPD.
@eddie,
AMEN!
John:
I really wish that you would take down the photos of these two young people.
They broke a law. The police were not wrong to arrest them. They are facing some serious legal troubles. Isn’t that enough?
When they broke this law, they didn’t harm or injure anyone or anyone’s property. The law that they violated brings with it the threat of significant fines and prison time. It’s a stupid law, but they broke it.
Still, don’t you think that the public humiliation of a “Voice Perp Walk” should be reserved for those that endanger or harm others.? Let’s not waste its impact on people accused of growing some plants. They have enough problems to deal with.
Mary Alice, I am so disappointed in you. Completely did not expect this. I was fooled on this one.
He looks scary
Well I have to say, if you’re gonna be dumb, you better be tough….
What kind of time.could they be facing?
