I am not a cop

4

7-16-12

Despite what many people may believe, I am in no way, nor have I ever been a member of law enforcement. I have no badge. I drive an old Sheriff’s car that was once used in Texas. I bought the car from an auto broker here in Madison. I pay for my own gas. I don’t get any compensation from the Sheriff’s Office or the Madison Police Dept. The lights on the grill of my car and in the back window are white, not blue. I used to use them when I was doing arrest videos. I would turn them on, usually on the interstate, in hopes of my car not being hit by passing traffic. I purchased the radio(HAM) and scanner (NASCAR) with my own money.

I hope this helps dispel any myths otherwise. If you doubt my words, feel free to contact the Sheriff or the Chief of Police to verify this.

Thank you,

John Ovenden – owner of Madison Voice.

Well glad someone has to remind the voice of his purpose, how awesome. Voice you are doing a great job and there are many that appreciate what you do. Keep on moving forward with your hard work. Who knows where it might take you.

Ok. I understand, but many others don’t understand your interest in reporting some of the events. Just remember your purpose, be fair and always be safe. Stay positive.

  3. The Voice says:

No. Ilike to watch events unfold on their own.

    Are you a tipster?
