LIGHTNING SEEN OVER THE GULF FROM MADISON

4

7-17-12

On Monday night, July 16, 2012 from about 10:00 PM to midnight one could look to the south from Madison and see a very unusual display of lightning. The weird thing was that there was no thunder. That was because the lightning was over 40 miles away over the Gulf of Mexico. The thunder that comes from lightning does not travel that far but light sure did. It was almost continuous flashing and a beautiful display of natures power. The photos were taken from the industrial park area of Madison just off Hwy 53 south.

Wow – awesome. I always forget that we are not that far from the Gulf of Mexico. Thanks for posting.

One of the most amazing things I’ve seen in a long time. It was beautiful, silent and it bordered a perfectly clear sky filled with stars. My wife told me that she thought it looked like when the aliens landed in “War of the Worlds”.
