REMINDER: NFCC Community Theatre presents Bernard Slade’s romantic comedy Same Time, Next Year
7-31-12
Four performances planned Aug. 16-19 at Van H. Priest Auditorium MADISON, FL — North Florida Community College Community Theatre is pleased to announce upcoming performances of Bernard Slade’s play Same Time, Next Year Aug. 16-19 at Van H. Priest Auditorium. Directed by NFCC’s own Scott Hubert, this popular romantic comedy follows one couple on an emotional 24-year journey.
New Jersey accountant George and California housewife Doris meet at a northern California inn in February 1951. They have an affair, then agree to rendezvous once each year at the same location despite the fact that both are married. Over the next 24 years, George and Doris develop an emotional intimacy, discussing the births, deaths and marital problems each have at home, while adapting to the social changes that affect their lives.
“This is a show that will have you laughing one second and crying a second later,” said Hubert. “It will cause you to rethink the ‘human condition’.”
Local stars Justin Webb of Madison and Jennifer Kuyrkendall of Live Oak portray George and Doris in this romantic comedy and according to Director Scott Hubert, he couldn’t have asked for a better cast.
“I have wanted to do this show for a long time, and have always pulled back because I could not find the George and Doris I needed,” said Hubert. “They [George and Doris] are two very complicated people. I have finally found them in Jennifer and Justin; these two are unbelievable and an absolute joy to watch. If you miss this one, you will be very sorry.”
