I agree with huh. Where is any discussion about at least an interim fire chief. I can’t believe the city commission takes safety so lightly. There is someone extremely qualified for the position already employed by the city with years of service and state certified.
The agenda item “Discuss and possibly approve a broadband lease” addresses issues that the city commission identified with the draft lease agreement drafted by the North Florida Broadband Authority.
The North Florida Broadband Authority is a government entity, based on Florida Home Rule statutes which allow governments to create a single entity by interlocal agreements. The NFBA Service Area includes the North Central Florida Rural Area of Critical Economic Concern, a 14-county area underserverved with broadband Internet access. The counties are: Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayetwte, Levy, Madison, Putnam, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union.
Broadband Internet connection is faster than dial-up connection.
The assets provided from the federal government provide a utility-like structure similar to sewer, water, and electrical companies.
The reason the draft agreement is on the agenda is to help ensure that the interests of the residents of the city are adequately addressed.
City of Madison code enforcement is a joke. Inspectors should be jailed.

Mr. C:
Is this as interesting as it sounds?
“Discuss and Possibly Approve a Broadband Lease (City Manager)”
F.S. 162.02, Intent. — It is the intent of this part to promote, protect, and improve the healthy, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the counties and municipalities of this state by authorizing the creation of administrative boards with authority to impose administrative fines and other noncriminal penalties to provide an equitable, expeditious, effective, and inexpensive way of enforcing any codes and ordinances in force in counties and municipalities, where a pending or repeated violated continues to exist.
The City Commission established the Code Enforcement Board on September 11, 2009.
Anyone interested in being considered for appointment as an alternate member of the Code Enforcement Board may contact their city commissioner to ask to be considered.
