Thanks for that CD. I am out of the country and could not vote If it were not for the internet, I would not have been able to keep up with all the information concerning the vote. I firmly believe that crime will not increase nor do I think there will be more people driving under the influence. They will not be driving from Georgia or Monticello after buying their booze and drinking it on the way home. Maybe the “bootleggers” will have to drop their prices now.
Now that this subject is over, I was wondering if the people that donated all the funds for MadisonYes and the advertizing for the No Vote would donate funds to our school system it would improve the education of our children. Why is it that people put alot of money into something like this but they will not help our school system? Can you please give back to the community the way we help support this cause? Just a small question.
Chuc , what they should have done was readvertise the position in a wider market . This was , in my opinion a political payoff to keep a certain person’s mouth shut .
The school board doesn’t hire staff, the prinicipal at the school does the hiring with the Superintendant of Schools approval of the person. The School Board members just say how many positions can be hired …there is a point that they are presented with a list for approval to hire but there must be great “cause” for them to go against the Superintendant…ususally this ends up before an administrative judge when it does happen. In this particular case, as in many others, the actual School Board members found out about it at the same time as the general public….in other words the Board makes the policies and the Superintendant is suppose to enforce them.
CAM: The ballot said (paraphrased of course) if the majority votes “in favor of” for Q1, Q2 would be in play; you could cast a vote and put your two cents worth in for Q2 regardless of your vote in Q1.
As for the county being wet, they only people will benefit from this is the ones that can get the license to sell it, it is not going to put any revenue in the county or help those who desperately need jobs. I agree with you Chuc, as a parent I have disagreed with many aspects of the school board and expressed them to school officals but as one person theres not much I can do alone, it’s very sad, I bet if I was qualified and had charges on my record I would be willing to bet they would not give me a second thought, its all about who you are and who you know.
My question is how can there be so many votes for Q2? I thought that only the yes votes on Q1 were allowed to also vote on Q2. Am I the only one to question this? If you have an answer to this please let me hear it. Thanks, CAM
Madion county is now wet.Welcome to the 21st century. Now lets work on the real problem, the school district that makes decisions out of fear rather than whats good for the students. Iam talking about the recent hiring of someone facing criminal charges. Is this person REALLY the best person?
How come the board did mention the salary of this person, I’ll bet its higher than an ESE teacher
Shame on the school board. We voted them in, lets vote them out
