Obituary – Larry J. Smith

Larry J. Smith, 68, of Pinetta, passed away Friday evening at his home. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Nancy Lawhon Smith.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, EDT, Tuesday, September 4th at Bevis Funeral Home Harvey-Young Chapel in Crawfordville. Interment will follow in Arran Cemetery, also in Crawfordville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (2:00 PM until 3:00 PM) at the funeral home.
Gifts in memory of Mr. Smith may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308.
A native of Moultrie, Georgia, Mr. Smith was medically retired from the United States Army, and was a veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was also a retired Civil Servant with the United States government, from which he held positions at Warner Robbins AFB, Georgia; Edwards AFB, California; and Homestead AFB, Florida.
He has spent the past 20 years in Pinetta and he was a member of the Madison Church of God. He was also an avid fisherman and grew greenhouse citrus.
Other survivors include his son, Todd Smith and his wife Lisa of Crawfordville; and his daughter, Robin Smith of Pinetta.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lillian Tillman Smith.


Nancy, I was so sorry to hear of Larry’s death. It was a blessing to visit with you in the
hospital. May God comfort you as only he can do. Lean on your friends for their love
and support but turn to God for the comfort only he can give.
