Two Cowboys Named to All District Band

1

11-20-12

On Saturday the 17th, students from the bands at Madison County High traveled to Lincoln High School to compete for spots in the Florida Bandmasters Association (FBA) District 3 All District Band. Madison has been well represented for the last five years and this year is no exception. Auditions for this ensemble are very demanding. Students must perform twelve major scales memorized in less than three minutes, a prepared solo and a sight reading selection. Leon, Madison, Taylor, Hamilton, Jefferson, Wakulla and Gadsden counties all send students to auditions in an effort to offer students a musical experience they could not get at their own schools.

This year MCHS had two students complete the audition process and get selected for the Honor Band. Joshua Stafford, a junior Trombone player, is the Drum Major of the Vaquero Guard and is participating in this band for the second time. Senior tuba player, Cullen Gudz, is the Brass Captain of the bands at Madison County High School and has been selected for a second year in this ensemble as well.

Now that the best music students in the district have been selected, rehearsals will begin. The final concert performance will be held at Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee on January 26 th, 2013.
