Florida Highway Patrol makes Large Drug/Currency Seizure
On February 4, 2013, Trooper Nathaniel Cabe stopped a silver colored Chevrolet Impala traveling
eastbound on Interstate 10 near Mile Marker 212 for a window tint violation. Upon stopping the vehicle,
Trooper Cabe noticed the odor of raw marijuana emitting from inside the vehicle. A probable cause search
of the vehicle yielded two large vacuum sealed bags of marijuana weighing a total of 2.2 pounds that were
found in the trunk. Also located within the vehicle were two loaded firearms, cocaine, and ecstasy. A
large sum of American currency, estimated to be between $120,000 and $150,000 dollars, was located
throughout the vehicle including underneath the hood.
Both subjects, Willie Davis Jr. 31 from Tallahassee and Hasan Shabazz 36 from Tallahassee were charged with possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The two subjects were arrested and taken to the Leon County Jail.
