“I don’t understand my libertarian friends who are against gay marriage” – Letter to the Editor
*Letter to the Editor*
I don’t understand my libertarian friends who are against gay marriage, especially the ones that fight for their own rights so often. Religion is no excuse. There is supposed to be separation of church and state anyways. I honestly don’t think the state should have any say in marriage at all but if the gays want marriage equality then really, what the hell is the big deal? If your only argument has anything to do with the bible then you need to reread that thing and look at all the things you’re doing or have done that goes against the “word”. Picking and choosing the verses that conveniently coincide with your argument is ridiculous. Do you have a tattoo or piercing? If the answer is yes, you are going against the laws laid down by your god. Have you ever been divorced, had premarital sex? It’s easy to stand on the outside and judge others for their beliefs and it’s easy to find a bible verse to go along with it. But doesn’t the bible say something about judging too? Furthermore, it’s idiotic to not want someone to get married because it goes against YOUR religion, what another does has nothing to do with your faith.
Voltaire said, “I do not agree with what you have to say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” It should work the same with all rights.
