2-9-10  Update- Submitted by Katie Lietz

Sarah Rebecca Bolf (January 26, 1989 – February 5, 2010)
Sarah Bolf was born in Plantation, Florida, to the wonderful parents of Tom and Carrie Bolf.    Sarah had one younger sister, Katie, who was extremely close with her. Sarah grew up in South Florida, attending St. Gregory’s for elementary and middle school and then St Thomas Aquinas High School. Sarah was currently a student at FSU majoring in merchandising.  Sarah passed away this Friday in a terrible car accident on I 10.  If you look at Sarah’s facebook today you will see how many lives she has touched, there are over 200 RIP and I’ll miss you comments.   There will be a memorial service for Sarah Tuesday at FSU from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at the Moore Auditorium. Her funeral service however will be in Plantation, Florida where her family lives.  The time for visitation has not been determined yet, but the mass and funeral service will be Saturday, 1:30 PM at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church.  Sarah Bolf was a daughter, a sister and a friend to all.  She touched many hearts and will always be with us.

2-5-10  UPDATE- There were no other passengers in the vehicle. The driver, 20-year-old Jillian Gillis from Hollywood, Florida is still in critical condition. The passenger 21-year-old Sarah Bolf, was from Plantation, Florida.

Around 3:00pm today there was an auto accident on I-10 about one mile west of SR 14 in the eastbound lane. A silver Honda carrying two people in the front seat and possibly someone in the back seat (undetermined at this time) was traveling east when it spun out of control and left the interstate hitting a large tree. The driver survived with reported internal injuries. The passanger was deceased. The car was too damaged to see in the back seat. Firemen found children’s items in the trunk and are hoping that a third victim will not be found.

Jill, I know you’ll make it through this. I wouldn’t put it past you if you decided to keep dancing. I miss seeing you at competitions and watching you dance. You’re amazing! I hope you can return to Irish dance one day. Be strong and don’t give up.
We are sorry we cannot be there for services for Sarah because we are snowed in up here in Maryland, but we will be there in spirit.
God Bless both the Gillis and Bolf families.

  4. Anjoly says:

Sarah was one of the most amazing people I have ever known. We got close in sophomore year, and I wish that would have continued for the rest of high school. Although I know she did not deserve to pass away so early, God has a plan for her. I hope this experience will help us all to be better people and remember those who have touched our lives.
Jill I really need you to get better, and you family does as well. You are the funniest, most caring, and outgoing person I have ever met; and the world cannot lose both of you.
I know that Sarah is watching over you and making sure you are getting better.
Love and prayer to the Bolf and Gillis families and the rest of STA C/O 2007 whose lives were touched by these wonderful women.
    Much love,
    Anjoly

  22. Old Friend says:

It’s strange, I remember back at St.Gregs with many ppl who commented, the way we behavied, we all grew up together. Back when we use to have dance parties, all of us would be there, Sarah, matt, donnie,Alexis, jackie megan.. We thought we were soo coool, great times we shared together growing up. Sarah was always the nicest and most caring. Sarah would never buy into rumors or be a “rumor weed”. It was obvious Sarah was a strong individual and had two inspiring parent’s. You’ll always be remembered in times of happiness, because you brought so much of it. Stay stong Jill. Let your golden heart lead you to a comforting place when you feel lost. We never die, because we live on in memories. Sarah is and will always be very much alive and present in our lives…Smile, and let her smile shine through yours..

  23. Meg says:

These 2 girls were the most spirited young women I’ve ever known and anyone who knows them know that they just exude love for life and for others. Please keep them and their families in your prayers. A memorial service for Sarah is being held on FSU’s Landis Green at 6pm on Tuesday February 9th. It is requested that you wear a pink bow, because they are Sarah’s favorite.

    God Bless

  24. Brenda Natiello says:

To the wonderful Bolf family, I am heartbroken over the loss of your beautiful Sarah. I have great memories of her smiling face and joyful spirit in my class. I hope God gives the three of you the strength, courage, and comfort you need in this terrible time.

And for the Gillis family, I am praying for your Jillian, too. She has a strong heart and a fighting spirit, and the prayers of so many people behind her. May God send you strength for the long road ahead.

  25. John Lawson says:

The hearts of all of us St Thomas Aquinas High school go out to the Bolf and Gillis families. Sarah and Jillian are two of the finest young ladies to ever grace the classrooms of our school. Many classes at STA went to the chapel today to pray the rosary, just as Jillian and Sarah did when they were students here. At times like this mere words – those clumsy, inflexible bricks – fail us, but we know that good will somehow prevail over evil and we will continue, albeit tearfully, to pray for these two wonderful ladies who will always hold a special place in our hearts. In Sarah’s case our loss is Heaven’s gain and Jillian’s hopes rest on Heaven’s newest angel doing what she always did best – caring for those she loved with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. Like a ship disappearing over the horizon we see Sarah’s departure, while the Heavenly body rejoices at the arrival of another good and faithful servant with a heart that radiates love. May God bless you always, Sarah, Thank you for being such a life affirming member of our STA family.

‘Lord, we do believe, help our unbelief in this time of unspeakable grief and sadness. Grant unto us the strength and courage to continue our quest to make thy will prevail on earth as it is in Heaven.’

  26. Jennifer Onofry says:

To the Bolf and Gillis families,

I did not know your girls, but I, my husband and children were traveling to Tampa and came upon the accident right after it happened, before there were any police or paramedics on the scene. My husband is a US Marshal in Alabama, and immediately grabbed his emergency gear and headed in to help.
He prayed with Jillian as she started to say her Hail Marys and helped remove the windshield and cut down the tree, and then held her head as they prepared to remove her from the car.
He was very shaken by the experience, and we have been praying for both families in this tragic time, and pray for Jillian’s recovery.
God Bless the families and friends of these girls…

  27. Nancy and Mark Gregoire says:

Our prayers are with everyone in these tragic circumstances. Only God can comfort you in this loss, but please know that all of your friends are praying for your acceptance and peace, and that God will give you that relief.

I love you all very much, and my continued prayers are with each of you. Jill, you are such a strong person, and you still have so much to give!
