Former Suwannee County Commissioner Randy Hatch launched his campaign for state Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Wednesday. In order to draw attention to his campaign and gain support Hatch is driving a red McCormick CX90 tractor throughout the state much like another well known politician who walked the breadth of Florida. Hatch, who is 59, begins a three month, 1,500 mile trek across the state in order to meet the people as well as gather support for his campaign. Hatch drove west on US90 from Live Oak, traveled to Madison and ended his first day of the long trek in Monticello. Hatch is running on the idea of energy independence and sustainable agriculture. Hatch said, “Politicians are masters at making simple issues complex, partly to excuse their salaries and partly to mislead the public into thinking they are necessary. Statesmen make complex issues simple. They are open to everyone and listen to the people they represent.” Hatch is facing 3 Democrats in the primary and the Republicans are running a single candidate at this time and there is one that is running on the Real Food Party of the US platform.
