CENSUS SIGNS PLACED IN MADISON COUNTY

0

3-8-10    By Pat Lightcap

Signs reminding people that the 2010 census for
Madison County is in their hands are being placed
near roads.  The Board of County Commissioners
and the Complete Count Census Committee are
working together to get the word out because the
Census Questionnaires are currently being delivered.

“We learned today that the 2010 Census Questionnaires
are being delivered by Census Workers to the homes
of those living ourtside of the City of Madison.  Most of
the city residents should receive their questionnaires
by mail if they receive their mail at their home, ” said
Patrick Lightcap, Co-chair of the local census committee.

Melissa Hinole, Partnership Specialist with the U.S.
Census Bureau was present for the Monday meeting
on March 8, 2010 and encouraged the committee to do
all it could to improve the return rate of census forms.
In 2000 Madison County sent back only 48% of the forms
that were sent out.

If you have questions about the census please call the
U.S. Census Bureau at 1-866-861-2010 or the local
census office in Gainesville at 352-224-1400.
