The recent murder of a Hamilton County teacher will be the topic of a Hamilton County Grand Jury probe March 19. The case goes to the jury as a result of the arrest of   Leonard Joeris. Joeris is charged with first degree murder and is being held at the Hamilton County Jail without bond. He’s accused of shooting his wife, 42, Lorrie Joeris Feb. 22. According to court records, Joeris told authorities that he and his wife had just returned from a stroll together, and as he was walking into the house, he heard a gun shot ring out. He turned and saw his wife on the ground.  However, Hamilton County Sheriff’s investigators did not believe Joeris’ story and arrested him for murder Feb. 26.  Lorrie Joeris was transported to a hospital in Gainesville wounded in the head, where she died enroute. Joeris was a fourth grade teacher at North Hamilton Elementary School in Jennings. She and her husband have two children.
