“Purple Day” is March 26th (Letter to the Editor) REMINDER
3-24-10 **REMEMBER TO WEAR PURPLE THIS FRIDAY**
Dear Editor,
From the purpleday.org website:
Founded in 2008, by nine-year-old Cassidy Megan of Nova Scotia, Canada, with the help of the Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia, Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26, people from around the globe are asked to wear purple and spread the word about epilepsy.
Why? Epilepsy affects over 50 million people worldwide. That’s more than multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease combined.
My daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago, at age 13. Despite being diagnosed with this life changing condition, she has continued to cheer for her school, make great grades and lead a pretty normal life. Having said this, we live with the reality that she could have a seizure at anytime. Earlier this year she discovered the purpleday.org website and took on this cause with a passion. The Madison City Council declared March 26th Purple Day after hearing Cammie speak. We are asking everyone to wear purple on Friday, March 26th to help raise awareness of this life changing condition.
Sincerely,
Brett, Stacey, Lizzie, Lucy and Cammie Frakes
Madison, Florida

Looks like I’ll be wearing my purple ruffles tomorrow.
Very proud of you Cammie. I look foward to seeing great things from you in the future.
The Madison County Commission agenda includes a presentation by Cammie Frakes. She is an articulate young lady. I will wear purple (and I am not an old lady) on March 26th. We can make a difference.
Thanks, John for the support. This is a wonderful grassroots project. In the future we would like to plan a event. We right now we just want people to support the cause by wearing purple of any type on March 26th.
Thanks
Brett Frakes
